It all started one day......

How did Club 30 start about? I bet most of you are wondering.
What is Club 30 about and has it got to do with age?

A handful of us met online at SGForums and started talking. On the day our founder 'Rhonda' turned 30, someone (I think it was MIA member Eric Draven) who suggested to her that it might be a good idea to start her own forum on her 30th birthday and VOILA!!! Club 30 was born.

Club 30 was formed for like-minded individuals who just wanna hang out to enjoy each others company and good food. Our ages range from 16 to past 40s. We don't have an age gap.

Anyway, we initially decided to keep our outings and meet-ups on the forums itself but since we have been taking many many photos, we decided that a blog would be the best way to organize things.

As an introduction, the moderators of Club 30s are:

1. Rhonda aka Missy (Founder and chief honcho)
2. the Bear
3. Elindra (aka Pinky Bear)
4. jetta

Many members have since come and gone. The regular ones are still frequenting the forum at

And yes, Club 30 is really all about Understanding Personalities =^.^=

Much to our disappointment, we weren't very organized when the Club just formed. But hey, we all learn don't we? There are lot of places we went but largely undocumented and no pictures taken as well. I guess it will just remain in our memories. We went to Kuishin-bo many times, we went to Swiss Culture, to smoke sheesha, eat Murtabak, No Sighboard Seafood, Sighboard Seafood etc etc which are all undocumented >.<"
Anyway, we will try to document as many outings as we can! Afterall, these are our precious memories!

P.S This article was really written on 18 Nov 2007 but backdated to the date when Club 30 was formed. Yes we are 3 years old :)

the Bear's Kuta Adventure

Before we start off with the adventures of the Bear in Kuta, let's first start off with what he saw in Kuta - How people in sgForums were represented there *lol*

the Bear himself *lol*

And the Adventure Begins.....

Kuta's only a 2 hour flight from Singapore.
Where Bear stayed, the Kuta Seaview Cottage, a twin-share little cottage thing (like a chalet thing) is US$38 a night.

Bear kept score - 1st night: 11 - 11
2nd night: 13 - 9
3rd night: 14 -12
4th night: 10 - 10
They are the touts and sleazy people who are everywhere... the first number is the number of times (exclusive, not repeated ) the sleazy fellas offered "you want woman.. pretty girl" the 2nd number is the number of times (again different people) the sleazy people offered drugs from weed to speed to eccies and heroin all were turned down (of course) and the sleazy fellas were ignored

There are many shrines in Kuta...

but mostly, Kuta is famed for their beaches.. and.. wow...

and not forgetting that a tragic event happened there.. they have a memorial for the fallen which is still visited, and tributes placed daily.. the Bear went and said a silent prayer for the lost souls...

near the end of the day, the beach is a wonderful place to be.. a romantic place for couples...

or if you just want to be alone with your thoughts, deep in contemplation...

this was the Bear's temporary cave when he was at Kuta... just across the road from the beach

Walking around Kuta, signs of "Americanisms"; abound!
Starbucks are everywhere!

but mostly from Hard Rock Cafe.. since Bush won, Bear decided not to go (just kidding ) but mostly, Bear figured HRCs are overrated.. still, he took pics
Walking around Kuta, signs of "Americanisms"; abound!
Starbucks are everywhere!

but even from HRC, some wisdom comes through.. even if it was written by The Beatles

There's even a street with all the huge brands there!

but this Bear would rather do his shopping in these places

Wandering along the beach, Bear came across a bunch of people with a wonderful job...The Beach Patrol

Then there were people trying to flog stuff to you when you're on the beach

Bear never figured out what these fellas with their pink outriggers were up to...

Bear then went wandering around town and as aforementioned, there were many shrines around.. they were very ornate..

Bear came across this shop that made and sold musical instruments..

The boss of the place is a friendly dude.. his name is Agus.. he gives free drumming lessons in the evening for anyone who cares to drop

There are also alternative transportation in Kuta
